New York Fashion Week Part 1

Clearly if you have seen my thinly veiled moan via twitter, I would like to be in New York right now (correction I WANT to be in New York right now).

So I thought, in the name of, umm, research I would lust after what is being shown over the next few days and paly fantasy shopping again (see previous posts for explaination).

Of course, there was the usual line up (all beautiful I may add) of Michael Kors, Calvin Klein etc… However there was Mathieu Mirano.

Born in New York, Mathieu Mirano attended the Huntington School of Fine Arts before studying at Parson’s School of Design in New York City. Mathieu launched his debut collection in 2011 through his inspired inventiveness and unique sense of fashion. He effectively utilized high levels of construction, craft and imagination.

Mathieu’s highly praised capsule collection prompted him to launch his eponymous spring collection in 2011. With a background in fine arts and classical piano, Mathieu is inspired by composers such as Camille Saint-Saëns and Philip Glass, as well as his extensive travels in Paris, Marseille, Geneva, Milan, London, Cairo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Calcutta.

Mathieu’s fall 2012 collection utilizes couture techniques and promises to attract wide attention from glamorous women. By combining his observations of colors, textures and fashionable women around the world with his dreamlike imagination, Mathieu has created a compelling fall collection through use of black leathers and dragon scale embroideries in combination with silk chiffons and organzas. His exposed zippers, claw studs and metal dragon heads and talons give a raw intensity to soft wools and furs.

The new fall collection’s dresses, coats, jackets, gowns, blouses, and pants combine style and color with detailed fabric layering, and promise to propel the Mathieu Mirano brand to the forefront of leading emerging designers in the luxury fashion landscape.
